EDH Burn
EDH Burn, endurance training for El Dorado Hills
Structured running, rowing, and engine work that actually builds your aerobic capacity, instead of grinding out the same tired miles. Most gyms in town don't program this. We do.
A real endurance program, not just "go run"
Most boxes treat cardio as an afterthought: a few rounds of rowing tacked onto the end of a strength workout, or a coach yelling "just keep moving." EDH Burn is different. It's a dedicated, coached endurance program built around how the aerobic system actually adapts, the kind of structured work you'd normally have to hire a private coach to get. After 13 years coaching this community, we kept hearing the same thing from runners, rowers, and cyclists: I want a bigger engine, but I don't know how to train it. So we built the program for them.
The idea is simple and the execution is precise: you don't get fitter by running hard every day, and you don't get fitter by running easy every day either. You get fitter when the right kind of work lands on the right day, when your easy days are genuinely easy and your hard days are genuinely hard, and when someone is tracking the whole thing so you keep climbing instead of flatlining.
Who it's for
Built for anyone chasing a bigger engine
You don't have to be fast, and you don't have to call yourself an "athlete." EDH Burn fits a wide range of goals:
Runners
Training for a 5K, a half, a marathon, or just to run without your knees complaining. We sharpen your mechanics and structure your weekly intensity so you build speed and stamina without the overuse injuries that come from grinding the same pace.
Rowers & cyclists
The erg and the bike are some of the best engine-builders on earth when they're programmed well. We coach efficient mechanics and pacing so you put power where it counts and stop leaking energy on technique.
Triathletes, HYROX & hybrid athletes
EDH Burn is great for HYROX training and prep, the run-plus-functional-work demand of HYROX rewards exactly the kind of deep aerobic base and engine work we program (it's not a dedicated HYROX class, but it builds the capacity that race demands). Same goes for triathletes and multisport athletes who need an engine that holds up across disciplines and carries them through the back half of a race when everyone else is fading.
Anyone who wants to stop gassing out
You don't need a race on the calendar. If you get winded on a hike, a pickup game, or a flight of stairs, a bigger aerobic engine changes your whole week, and that's exactly what this program is designed to build.
What's included
EDH Burn blends several types of coached work. We don't lock you to a fixed weekly clock on this page, sessions and times move, so check the current class schedule for what's running this week. Here's the kind of training you'll do:
- Structured aerobic base work. The unglamorous, foundational sessions that build the engine, done at the right intensity so they actually develop your aerobic system instead of just making you tired.
- Interval and zone training. Targeted efforts that raise your threshold and your top-end, prescribed by zone so you know exactly how hard each piece should feel and why.
- Running mechanics. Coaching on form, cadence, and footstrike so you run more efficiently and put less wear on your joints, the part most solo runners never get feedback on.
- Rowing mechanics. Drive sequence, stroke rate, and pacing on the erg, so the rower becomes a tool you can actually push on instead of a chore you survive.
- Engine-building conditioning. Mixed-modal pieces that develop your capacity to keep going when it gets hard, the difference-maker in races and in life.
Why structured beats unstructured cardio
The reason most people stop improving isn't effort, it's the lack of a plan. Left to our own devices, we drift into a "moderately hard, every day" rut: too slow to build speed, too fast to recover, perfect for plateaus and burnout. Structured training fixes that. It separates easy from hard, sequences the work so adaptations stack, and uses a coach's eyes to catch the mechanical leaks and pacing mistakes you can't see on your own. The result is a body that gets measurably more capable over weeks and months, not just more sore.
How endurance fits with strength
Endurance and strength aren't rivals, they're partners. A stronger body is a more durable body, which is why endurance athletes who lift get hurt less and hold form longer when they're tired. And a bigger aerobic engine makes your strength work feel lighter, your recovery between sets faster, and your conditioning days more productive. That's why so many members pair EDH Burn with our other programs. Some add a couple of coached CrossFit classes a week for full-body strength; others fold the engine work into their existing group fitness routine. There's no wrong combination, we'll figure out the right one for you at your intro. If you'd rather sharpen one specific goal with focused, one-on-one attention, our personal training can build a private endurance plan around your race.
What it costs (no mystery, no pressure)
We don't bury a price in fine print, and we won't make you sit through a hard sell. The right plan depends on your goals and how endurance fits with the rest of your training, so we match you to it at your free first class and you decide from there. Transparent ranges live on the pricing page, and there are no contracts you can't get out of. Want to see who you'll be training with first? Questions endurance athletes ask before joining
I already run on my own, why join a program?
Because solo running plateaus fast. Most people log the same comfortable pace day after day, get sore, and stop improving, that's junk mileage. EDH Burn replaces guesswork with structure: the right intensity on the right day, mechanics that protect your knees and hips, and a coach watching your progress so every session moves you forward instead of just tiring you out.
Do I have to do CrossFit too?
No. EDH Burn stands on its own, you can train your aerobic engine here without ever touching a barbell. That said, the two complement each other beautifully: strength keeps you durable and injury-resistant over the miles, and conditioning makes your strength work feel easier. Plenty of members pair endurance with our coached classes, but it's your call, and we'll map the right mix at your free first class.
Is this for beginners or advanced athletes?
Both. We coach first-time 5K runners and seasoned triathletes off the same principle: meet you where your engine is today and build from there. Every interval, distance, and pace scales to your current fitness, so a beginner and a veteran can train side by side and both leave challenged.
What equipment do I need?
Just running shoes and a willingness to sweat. The gym supplies the rowers, bikes, and any other tools a session calls for, plus the open space and routes around the El Dorado Hills Business Park for running work. No watch, treadmill, or pricey gear required to start.
How much does EDH Burn cost?
We keep exact prices off this page on purpose, the right plan depends on your goals and how endurance fits with the rest of your training, so we match you to it at your free first class. You'll find transparent ranges on our pricing page, with no contracts you can't get out of.
